The Baayun Maulid tradition in Tapin South Kalimantan was attended by 4,481 people

Tapin – A total of 4,481 people who are furthest from West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Jakarta and Semarang follow the Ba’ayun Maulid tradition in Banua Halat Village, Tapin Regency, South Kalimantan.

Tapin Regent HM Arifin Arpan said his party in the following year promised to help to fix any shortcomings in the implementation of today’s celebration.

“As usual, almost 5,000 visitors. We will continue to fix it, especially for parking,” he said at the event location, Saturday.

Overall, he said, the annual event which was held to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad Shalallahu Alaihi Wasallam on 12 Rabiul Awal went well and smoothly.

The Organizing Committee, Halim, said that 50 percent of the Baayun Maulid participants came from local Tapin, the rest from various regions.

“For 50 percent of visitors who come from outside the Tapin area,” he said.

The oldest and youngest participants were nearly 100 years and seven days old. This activity, since 2000, has not only been attended by children, but also adults.

Participants who took part in the celebration of joy at the moment of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, there were also those who fulfilled their intentions or promises after their life goals were successful.

This activity was last held in 2019 or before COVID-19 hit, that year it was recorded that 4,960 participants from various regions in Indonesia came to Tapin.

A glimpse of Baayun Maulid, in 2008 the tradition was recorded in the Indonesian World Record Museum (MURI), with the most participants in Indonesia in cultural activities ever.

Following that, in 2015 the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia determined that Baayun Maulid was awarded as an intangible cultural heritage of Indonesia.
